Hall of Fame
Dick and Mae Shierling have been instrumental in the fund-raising efforts of Quincy College and Quincy University athletics for many years. They have owned McDonald’s franchises in Quincy and Hannibal for more than 40 years. During that time, the Shierlings have lent the McDonald’s name and sponsorship to many tournaments, games and activities not only involving Quincy University but many operations throughout the Tri-States Area. In 1983, the Sherlings were instrumental in the start of the McDonald’s/Herald-Whig Basketball Classic which in June was played for the 24th straight year. In the past two years, the money raised from those games has been used for scholarships for two deserving Quincy University students.
