Hawks Place Six at Kaufman Brand Bayly Open

Warrensburg, Mo. - The Hawks made the trip south to Warrensburg for the Kaufman Brand Bayly UCM Open over the weekend, placing six individuals throughout the elite and amateur classes highlighted by podium finishes for Kayden Garrett (2nd) in elite 197 and Sabian Russell (3rd) in the 141 elite division.

Garrett paved his way to a 2nd place finish in the elite 197 division with a fall and a pair of decisions including a 10-4 final over teammate, Judah Yates in the semifinals before dropping the title match to Aiden Cooley. Russell made his way to the third place match in elite 141 on a pair of tech falls and a major decision before using another tech to defeat Lucas Laux of Maryville by a 17-0 score for third place.

Yates added a fourth place finish in elite 197 on a tech fall and pair of major decisions while Raymond Fernandez picked up wins by major decision, tech fall, medical forfeit and injury default on his way to a fourth place finish in the amateur 174 division. Damien Flores used tech fall, decision and no contest wins to claim fifth place in the amateur 133 division and James Soliz rounded out the Quincy placers, finishing in sixth in the amateur 184 division.

The Hawks are back in action on Friday, Dec. 6, welcoming the Peacocks of Upper Iowa to Pepsi Arena for 6:00 PM GLVC showdown.
