BRANSON, Mo. – The Quincy University softball team dropped both games of Thursday's action, falling 11–0 to Missouri Western State in Game 1 before a 4–0 setback against Southern Nazarene in Game 2.
Game 1 - Missouri Western 11, Quincy 0
Missouri Western State used a big second inning to seize control of the opener. The Griffons plated three runs in the frame and added four in both the third and fourth innings, highlighted by a two-run homer from Sydney Young and a two-run blast from pitcher Alyssa Finarty. Quincy was limited to three hits in the contest and could not break through offensively.
Kenzie Moss,
Haleigh Winter, and Kelsey Biggerstaff recorded hits for the Hawks, while Biggerstaff's double accounted for Quincy's lone extra-base hit. Halle Platt took the loss in the circle, allowing seven runs in 2.1 innings, while
Alexus Freeman and
Hannah Uhles provided relief.
Game 2 - Southern Nazarene 4, Quincy 0
Game 2 saw Quincy keep things close early before Southern Nazarene capitalized on defensive miscues in the second inning. A sacrifice fly brought home the game's first run before Natalie Gowan stole home later in the inning to give the Crimson Storm a 2–0 lead.
The Hawks threatened multiple times but left runners stranded in the second, third, and fourth innings. Southern Nazarene added two insurance runs in the sixth to seal the 4–0 decision.
Baylee Sales earned the win, striking out 10 over six shutout innings.
Haley Martin took the loss after allowing four runs (one earned) across 5.1 innings, while
Alexus Freeman added scoreless relief.

Kenzie Moss,
Samantha Farrell, and
Casey Fronheiser reached base via walks.
Quincy returns to action on February 20 in Rosemont, Illinois, competing inside the Dome at Rosemont. The Hawks will face Ferris State University at 6:00 PM before taking on Hillsdale College at 8:00 PM.
