Personal: Makala Koozer is from Gretna, Nebraska, and attended Gretna High School, where she distinguished herself both academically and athletically. She is the daughter of Todd and Kandis Koozer and has one brother, Jordan Wilson, and two sisters, Katelyn Sader and Kelsey Ponio. Makala graduated summa cum laude and was a member of the National Honor Society.
On the field, she earned numerous honors, including Class A State Honorable Mention, Eastern Midlands All-Conference, Omaha World-Herald Class A Honorable Mention, NCPA Academic All-State, and selection to the Metro Coaches Association All-Academic Team. She helped lead Gretna High School to a Nebraska Class A State
Championship, along with Metro Conference, Eastern Midlands Conference, and District Championships. During the fall 2024 season, Gretna posted a 38–0 record and was ranked No. 1 nationally by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Makala also competed at the club level with Primetime, a national-level program.
Outside of athletics, Makala enjoys shopping, golf, pickleball, working out at the gym, boating, and tubing. She is a fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Colorado Avalanche.
