WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Quincy University men's wrestling team competed in a loaded field at the Kaufman-Brand Bayly Open on Saturday, November 22, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg, Missouri, and came away with several podium finishes in a strong overall showing. Facing competition from multiple collegiate programs across both the Amateur and Open divisions, the Hawks consistently battled through deep brackets and showcased depth up and down the lineup.
In the Amateur division, Quincy produced two finalists and a championship performance at 133 pounds from
Ashton Gamboa, who went a perfect 4-0 on the day to claim first place. Gamboa picked up two technical falls and two decisions, including a 17-1 technical fall and a dominant 16-0 bonus-point victory in the title run.
Dimitri Bao-Washington added another runner-up finish for the Hawks at 141 pounds, going 4-1 with a technical fall, a major decision, and a sudden-victory win to reach the finals. Damion Florez also turned in a solid performance at 141 pounds with a 2-2 record, while
Bryce Edwards earned a win by decision in his bracket.
Saul Razo picked up a technical fall at 157 pounds, and
Brian Farley went 2-2 in the 125-pound Open division with a pair of convincing decision wins.
The Open division featured another standout outing for Quincy, highlighted by multiple podium finishes.
Jackson Jones battled his way to a second-place finish at 165 pounds with four wins, including a sudden-victory decision and a high-scoring 21-16 win.
Judah Yates also placed second at 197 pounds, going 3-1 with two technical falls and a major decision in a dominant run to the finals.
Isaiah Nichols finished fifth at 157 pounds with a 4-2 record, earning two falls and a major decision in his placement matches. At 174 pounds,
Dalton Schell placed sixth after a 3-3 performance that included a technical fall and a major-decision victory, while
Te'Andre Allen delivered one of the deepest tournament runs of the day by finishing third at 133 pounds with a 5-1 record and two falls along the way.
Several Hawks posted competitive efforts throughout the Open division, including
Hunter Vernon at 165 pounds with a 3-2 showing and two major decisions,
Callan Ivy going 2-2 at 184 pounds with a technical fall and major decision, and
Jack Miller posting a 2-2 mark at 165 pounds with a fall and a decision win.

Quincy will return to action on December 6 when the Hawks travel to Springfield, Missouri, for their first conference dual of the season against Drury University. The first whistle is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
