Quincy University Hawks

Personal: Chicago native Roy Phelps made his mark at Chicago Hope Academy as a standout wrestler, earning two state placements, a state finalist finish, and four national qualifications. A member of the Class 1A state-qualifying team, Roy also excelled in the classroom as an honor roll student. The son of Roy Phelps and Jackie Akins, he enjoys playing chess and card games in his free time. He looks up to Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson and is a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Why QU?
I chose QU because when I was picking schools, I wanted to be put in the best possible position to achieve my goals and win. So when it came down to the last two schools, I decided that Quincy had everything I needed to grow not only as an athlete but as a student and in my faith.
