Quincy University Hawks

2025-26 (Freshman): Phelps put together a strong first season with the Hawks, finishing with an 8-7 overall record and a .533 win percentage. He also won his lone dual appearance, going 1-0 and scoring six dual points for Quincy.

Phelps recorded three falls, two major decisions, and three decision victories during his freshman campaign. He made his collegiate debut at the Luther Hill Open (11/1/25), where he went 4-2 and earned the first podium finish of his career with a fourth-place finish in the Fresh/Soph 285 division.

Personal: Phelps is from Chicago, Illinois, where he attended Chicago Hope Academy and competed as a standout wrestler. During his high school career, Roy earned two state placements, finished as a state finalist, and was a four-time national qualifier. He was also part of a Class 1A state-qualifying team. Phelps also excelled in the classroom as an honor roll student. He is the son of Roy Phelps and Jackie Akins. In his free time, Roy enjoys playing chess and card games. His favorite athlete is Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson, and he is a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers.
