Quincy University Hawks

2025-26 (Freshman): Gamboa put together a strong freshman season for the Hawks, finishing with a 14-9 overall record and a .608 win percentage. He saw limited dual action, going 0-2 overall and 0-2 in conference matchups, while making his biggest impact in tournament competition.

Gamboa recorded four tech falls, three major decisions, and seven decision victories during his first collegiate season. He made his collegiate debut at the Luther Hill Open (11/1/25), where he picked up the first win of his career by tech fall.

Gamboa added a fourth-place finish at the Service Salute Open (11/8/25) before capturing the first tournament title of his career at the Kaufman/Brand/Bayly Open (11/22/25), going 4-0 to win the Amateur 133 division. He later added another podium finish at the Roger Denker Open (1/18/26), placing fourth.

Personal: Ashton Gamboa is from Houston, Texas, and graduated from Cypress Ranch High School, where he was a member of the Mustangs. He is the son of Eduardo Cuevas and Valarie Gamboa.

Academically, Ashton was named to the All-District Academic Team and consistently made the honor roll. He was also part of the College Academy Program, showcasing his commitment to balancing rigorous academics alongside his athletic pursuits.

On the mat, Ashton had an outstanding wrestling career. He was a state qualifier, district winner, and regional placer. He helped lead his team to a District 6A-10 Championship and reached an impressive milestone of 109 career wins.

Outside of wrestling, Ashton enjoys playing games and working out. His favorite athletes are Takuto Otoguro and James Harden.
