Hawks Swept by Maryville in Road Doubleheader

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Quincy dropped both games of Saturday's doubleheader to Maryville, falling 9-1 in game one before a 10-1 loss in game two.

Game 1: Maryville 9, Quincy 1 (6 inn.)

In game one, the Saints struck early, plating two runs in the opening inning before adding three more in the third to take control. Quincy broke through in the third when Kinsey Biggerstaff singled and came around to score on an RBI single from Samantha Farrell, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

Maryville answered immediately, capitalizing on a bases-loaded situation in the third with a three-run double to extend the lead. The Saints added two more runs in the fourth and two in the sixth to pull away for the 9-1 victory. Quincy was limited to just three hits in the opener, with Farrell, Lindsey Fischer, and Biggerstaff accounting for the offense.

Game 2: Maryville 10, Quincy 1 (5 inn.)

Game two saw Maryville jump out to a fast start once again, scoring five runs in the first inning on three hits, a pair of hit-by-pitches, and timely hitting to build an early 5-0 advantage. The Saints added three more runs in the second behind a three-run home run to stretch the lead to 8-1.

Quincy's lone run came in the second inning when Kenzie Moss reached on an error and Kaidence Dumas drove her in with an RBI single. That would be the Hawks' only hit of the game, as Maryville's pitching staff limited Quincy to just one hit in game two.

Maryville added two more runs in the third on a two-run home run to cap the scoring at 10-1 as the game ended after five innings.

Across the doubleheader, the Hawks were held to just four total hits and struggled to generate consistent offensive pressure against the Saints' pitching staff.

Quincy will wrap up the regular season on Sunday, May 3rd, in Lebanon, Illinois, as they take on nationally ranked No. 17 McKendree. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM, with game two scheduled for 2:30 PM.
