Park Breaks Another School Record as Hawks Post 28 PRs at CMU Invite

FAYETTE, Mo. – The Quincy University men's and women's track and field teams turned in another strong weekend at the CMU Invite on Thursday and Friday, highlighted by another school record from Katie Park and 28 new personal records across the two-day meet.

On the men's side, Evan Sweeney led the way in the field with a runner-up finish in the hammer throw after posting a personal-best mark of 55.14 meters. Tate Kunzeman also recorded a pair of top-seven finishes, taking seventh in the javelin at 41.73 meters while adding a personal-best toss of 48.26 meters in the hammer throw to finish seventh there as well.

In distance events, Owen Weinfurtner claimed first place in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:16.94. Quincy also saw three personal records in the 1500-meter run from Jude Mintle (4:35.25), Austin Haskins (4:37.44), and Logan Meyer (4:56.19). Haskins added another PR in the 800-meter run at 2:15.88, while Joe Warning turned in a personal-best 2:00.78.

The Hawks were strong in the jumps as well. Jerron Baker placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 14.66 meters, while Jack Thompson finished fifth in the long jump at 6.90 meters and sixth in the triple jump at 14.26 meters. Dominick Ricci added a personal-best clearance of 1.91 meters in the high jump, tying for fifth place.

On the track, Aneas Smith posted a fourth-place finish and personal record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.63, while Luke Schuette also set a PR at 17.95. The 4x100 meter relay team of Jarvis Fuller, Aneas Smith, Evan Hines, and Sean Sossou turned in a personal-best time of 42.90. Sossou added a PR of 10.91 in the 100-meter dash, Hines followed with an 11.18 PR, and Fuller posted a personal-best 23.19 in the 200-meter dash.

On the women's side, Katie Park continued her historic season with another record-breaking performance. Park finished third in the 800-meter run with a school-record and personal-best time of 2:16.75. Emily Faletti also posted a PR in the event at 2:29.32, while Briana Obermaier crossed in 2:39.96 for another personal best.

Alexis Fonseca turned in one of the top finishes for the women, placing second in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 12:42.68. In the jumps, Suraya Newman placed sixth in the long jump at 5.19 meters and fifth in the triple jump at 11.24 meters, while Lauren Hegele added a personal-best leap of 4.84 meters in the long jump. Katelyn McCoy rounded out the notable performances on the track with a personal-best 1:06.08 in the 400-meter dash.

The Hawks will be back in action on April 10 and 11 as they travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for the Mustang Distance Carnival & Open.
