Jack Thompson Earns QU Toyota Star of the Week Honors After Record-Breaking Performance at Wildcat Open

QUINCY, Ill. - After another dominant performance in the jumps, Quincy University men's track and field athlete Jack Thompson has been named the QU Toyota Star of the Week. Thompson played a major role in helping the Hawks finish second out of 16 teams with 92 points at the Wildcat Open this past Saturday in Canton, Missouri.

The standout jumper led the way for the Quincy men with a pair of first-place finishes and two NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks. Thompson opened the meet by winning the long jump with a mark of 7.49 meters, setting both a Quincy University school record and a facility record.

He followed that performance with another first-place finish in the triple jump, recording a mark of 15.01 meters. That jump also met the NCAA Division II provisional standard.

Nationally, Thompson currently ranks 15th in Division II in the long jump and 19th in the triple jump. Within the GLVC, he ranks third in the long jump and second in the triple jump.

Thompson and the Hawks will return to action on Wednesday, April 22, at the Rittgers Invitational in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, hosted by Coe College.
