Thompson Earns USTFCCCA All-Midwest Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Quincy University sophomore Jack Thompson has been named All-Midwest Region by the USTFCCCA following a standout outdoor track and field season that saw him rank among the nation's top performers in both the long jump and triple jump.

Thompson earned All-Region recognition in two events after finishing the regular season ranked 21st nationally in the long jump and 24th nationally in the triple jump. He becomes Quincy's first outdoor All-Region selection since Herman Chongwain earned All-Region honors in the 100 meters during the 2022 season.

The sophomore delivered a consistent outdoor campaign highlighted by multiple event victories and school-record performances. In the triple jump, Thompson posted four first-place finishes during the season while recording marks over 15 meters twice. His season-best mark of 15.04 meters came at the Billiken Invitational, while he also posted a 15.01-meter performance at the Culver-Stockton Wildcat Open. Thompson added a third-place finish at the GLVC Outdoor Championships with a mark of 14.77 meters.

In the long jump, Thompson recorded three first-place finishes throughout the outdoor season, including a school-record leap of 7.49 meters at the Culver-Stockton Wildcat Open. The mark served as a personal best and ultimately secured his qualification for the national championship meet. He also added a runner-up finish at the Billiken Invitational and placed sixth at the GLVC Outdoor Championships.

Thompson has qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Emporia, Kansas, where he will compete in the long jump on May 21st at 2:30 PM at Francis G. Welch Stadium on the campus of Emporia State University.
