SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Quincy dropped both games of Saturday's doubleheader against Drury, falling 7-0 in game one before a 6-1 loss in game two. The Hawks offense was limited to just three hits across the two contests and struck out 24 times.
Game 1: Drury 7, Quincy 0
Game one belonged to Drury pitcher Jordyn Foley, who tossed a complete game no-hitter while striking out 11. Quincy managed only two baserunners in the game, with
Casey Fronheiser drawing a walk in the fourth inning and
Kinsey Biggerstaff reaching via walk in the sixth. The Hawks struck out 11 times and had only two runners reach scoring position all afternoon.
Drury broke through with three runs in the second inning on an RBI double and a two-run single before adding four more in the third. A leadoff triple, an error, a two-run double, and another RBI single pushed the lead to 7-0 and put the game out of reach.
Kaidence Dumas took the loss in game one after allowing seven runs, six earned, on six hits over three innings.
Hannah Uhles provided a bright spot out of the bullpen, tossing three scoreless innings without allowing a hit while striking out two.
Game 2: Drury 6, Quincy 1
Game two started much better for Quincy as Dumas blasted a solo home run in the second inning to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. It was her seventh home run of the season and one of just three Quincy hits in the game. Drury answered in the bottom of the second with an RBI double before taking control in the third. After a leadoff double and a walk, a two-run single gave the Panthers the lead, and an RBI groundout later in the inning extended the advantage to 4-1.
The Hawks threatened in the fifth when
Lindsey Fischer singled, stole second, and
Hannah Uhles worked a walk, but Quincy could not cash in. Drury added two more runs in the sixth inning with a pair of doubles and an RBI single to cap the scoring at 6-1.
Dumas,
Kenzie Moss, and Fischer each had one hit in game two, while Fischer also stole two bases. Uhles reached base twice with a pair of walks.
Haley Martin took the loss after allowing six runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings before Uhles came on in relief.
