MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Hawks track and field team turned in another strong weekend at the Bearcat Invite, competing Friday and Saturday and stacking up school records, NCAA provisional marks, and a long list of personal bests.
On the men's side,
Jack Thompson highlighted the field events with an NCAA Division II provisional mark in the triple jump, finishing second at 14.70 meters, while also placing ninth in the long jump (6.69).
Jerron Baker added another provisional performance in the triple jump, placing third with a personal-best leap of 14.65 meters.
Logan Dennis posted a PR of 12.57 meters in the triple jump as well.
Distance events saw records fall, led by
Alexis Fonseca, who broke the school record in the women's 3,000 meters with a personal-best time of 11:11.23. Brianna Obermaier followed with a PR of her own in the same event, crossing the line in 11:42.23.
Katie Park continued the record-setting trend in the women's mile, clocking a school record and PR time of 5:07.72, while
Joe Warning ran a personal-best 4:32.43 in the men's mile.
In the sprints and hurdles,
Madison Roberts posted a PR of 7.92 in the 60 meters and added another personal best in the 200 meters at 26.92, with
Ateezah Churchwell following close behind at 27.63.
Luke Schuette (9.42) and
Kayden Johnston (8.93) both recorded PRs in the 60-meter hurdles. Johnston also notched a personal-best 51.47 in the 400 meters, joining
Sean Sossou (50.07) and
Dominick Ricci (50.42), who each turned in PR performances in the event.
Both squads return to action on Friday, February 20, at the Hilltop Classic in Jacksonville, Illinois, the final tune-up before the GLVC Indoor Championship on February 28.
