ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Hawks traveled to Allendale, Michigan, on Saturday for the second meeting of the GLVC Duals, facing a tough slate against nationally ranked opponents. Quincy dropped decisions to No. 10 Northern Michigan University and No. 4 Grand Valley State University inside GVSU's Fieldhouse.
No. 10 Northern Michigan 26 – Quincy 21
Quincy picked up early momentum with three forfeits and a fall to keep the dual within striking distance.
Abigail Mendoza (103),
Trinity Pendergrass (110), and Xochitl Mota-Pettis (131) all earned victories via forfeit, while
Sereena Baca delivered a quick pin at 124 pounds, securing the fall in just 0:55.
Northern Michigan answered with five wins, including four falls, to narrowly edge the Hawks in the opening dual.
No. 4 Grand Valley State 32 – Quincy 11
Quincy opened the second dual with a statement performance from
Trinity Pendergrass, who earned a 6–4 decision over No. 4 Rayana Sahagun at 103 pounds. The Hawks added two more key wins against ranked opponents, as Xochitl Mota-Pettis defeated No. 2 Aspen Blasko in a high-scoring 17–11 decision at 124, and
Maddy Barton knocked off No. 10 Hannah Palise by a 9–5 decision at 131.
Grand Valley State, ranked fourth nationally, controlled the remainder of the dual with a series of technical falls and a pin to secure the team victory.
The Hawks return home on Tuesday, February 3, hosting Lindenwood University inside Pepsi Arena. First bout is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
