Jacksonville, Ill. - The Quincy University track and field program competed in a rainy True Blue Invite on Friday evening (Apr. 5). Rain delayed the Hawks a couple hours, but the Friday night lights were bright with Hawks success, including many personal bests and a new Quincy record.
Women's Results
Katie Park etched herself into the Hawks record book yet again, snapping her previous 1,500-meter run record by nine seconds, this time running a 5:00.27. Park earned a third place finish among 28 runners. Bri Obermaier posted her best time in the 1,500-meter run, a 5:47.21.
Carlie Davis and
Sofia Coglianese rounded out the group at 6:01.05 and 6:11.27 respectively.
Ava Certa and Obermaier dominated the 800-meter run, Certa finishing 11th with a 2:45.63 time and Obermaier behind her at 2:56.29.
Sofia Berg was the lone Hawk in the field events on the women's side and posted a 4.21-meter leap in the long jump.
Men's Results
The Hawks started the meet off fast with
Jack Thompson in the front of the Quincy pack in the 100-meter dash, posting an 11.17-second time.
Sam Koenig was a hair behind Thompson at 11.21.
Jayden Ruiz rounded out the tro at 11.61, his fastest time in the event.
Vinny Olson kicked off the distance events with a 4:35.82 in the 1,500-meter run, while
Owen Weinfurtner debuted his 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 11:11.98.
Landon Sprous dominated the 110-meter hurdles, posting a 15.73-second run, just a half a second away from first place.
Dominick Ricci was just behind him at third place, finishing at 16.03-seconds. Ricci also placed third in the long-distance hurdles, finishing at 57.35 seconds.
Quincy's jumps performed exceptionally, starting off with Ricci's second place high jump at 1.85 meters.
Jarvis Thompson also finished second in the long jump, posting a 5.90-meter leap.
Jack Thompson,
Jerron Baker, and
Charlie Kallal went first, second, and third place in the triple jump. Thompson hopped a 13.96, followed by Baker at 13.83 meters. Kallal rounded the trio out with a 12.77-meter jump.

The Hawks head up to Cedar Rapids next weekend for the Mustang Distance Carnival.
