ATCHISON, Kan. – The Quincy University men's wrestling team opened its dual season in dominant fashion on Friday, posting a perfect 4-0 record at the Loosbrock Duals for the second consecutive year. The Hawks received scoring production up and down the lineup, recording 31 bonus-point victories across the four duals.
Match 1: Quincy 52, Barton County Community College 0
Quincy opened the day with a shutout against Barton County, securing bonus points in all ten bouts. At 125,
Brian Farley started the tournament strong with a 19-3 tech fall, before
Te'Andre Allen,
Damien Flores, and
Sabian Russell stacked three consecutive tech falls to extend the lead early. The Hawks continued rolling with two pins, including falls from
Jacob Sigman (157) and
Gavin Morawitz (165), to go along with another tech fall from
Mac Chambers (174). At 184,
Callan Ivy controlled his match from start to finish for a 9-2 decision, while
James Soliz (197) and
Roy Phelps (285) closed out the sweep with back-to-back pins.
Match 2: Quincy 40, Labette Community College 12
The Hawks remained sharp in their second dual, picking up five bonus-point wins. Farley opened with another tech fall at 125, followed by a composed 4-0 decision from Allen at 133. Russell delivered a crucial matchup at 149 with an 8-5 decision, while Clement added a win via forfeit at 157. From there, Quincy's upperweights took over. Chambers rolled to another tech fall,
Callan Ivy followed with a pin in 1:24, and
Judah Yates (197) and
Caleb Groff (285) closed the dual with consecutive first-period pins to secure the 40-12 victory.
Match 3: Quincy 51, Colby Community College 0
Quincy posted its second shutout of the day with a dominant performance against Colby. Farley again struck early with a fall in just 1:06, and Allen tallied a 16-0 tech fall to keep Quincy rolling. Wins from Flores, Russell, Clement, and Morawitz quickly pushed the lead into runaway territory. At 174 and 184, Chambers and Ivy each recorded tech falls, showcasing the Hawks' advantage throughout the weight classes.
Caleb Groff then closed the match with a gritty 2-0 decision at heavyweight.
Match 4: Quincy 41, Neosho County Community College 11
Quincy capped the day with another convincing victory, winning eight of ten matches. Farley controlled the opener with a major decision, and Allen followed with a fall at 3:53. After Neosho claimed one at 141, Russell and Clement responded with matching tech falls to reassert momentum.
Chambers and Ivy continued their outstanding day with two additional tech falls in the upper weights, before
Judah Yates secured another tech at 197. Groff ended the dual emphatically, pinning his opponent in 18 seconds at 285.
