Cedar Rapids, Iowa - The Quincy University track and field team finished out their in-season meets on Wednesday (Apr. 23) at the Coe College Rittgers Invitational. The Hawks posted some sharp times at the tune-up meet in preparation for the Great Lakes Valley Conference meet next week.
Women's Results
Ava Certa posted a 2:38.48 in the 800-meter run, winning the event by nearly five seconds.
Sofia Coglianese came in at 2:45.47, her fastest time of the year.
Briana Obermaier ran the 3,000-meter race among a group of Kohawks and finished in 12:12.07.
In field events,
Mackenzie Emmons competed in the long jump, leaping 3.72 meters for a fourth place finish.
Men's Results
Landon Sprous led the Hawks in the hurdles with a 15.18-second dash in the 110-meter hurdles, the lone event for the freshman.
Jayden Ruiz ran sprints for the Hawks on Wednesday, finishing sixth in the 100-meter dash at 11.79 seconds and finishing the 200 in 24.06 seconds.
Vinny Olson and
Austin Haskins competed in the 800-meter run. Olson led the duo with a 2:11.91 and Haskins followed at 2:18.78 in his second appearance of the year.
Owen Weinfurtner got a break from the steeplechase barricades this week and ran a regular 3,000-meter run in 10:07.24.
The jumps trio competed well and took five of six top-three spots across long jump and triple jump.
Jerron Baker led the triple jump with a 14.21-meter leap, followed by
Jack Thompson at 13.98 meters. Jarvis Thomspon hit 13.44 meters on his fourth attempt for third place. In long jump,
Jack Thompson led the pack with a 6.67-meter jump. Baker hit 6.22 meters on his final attempt while
Jarvis Thompson's first jump of 6.10 meters was good for fourth place.
Evan Carroll rounded out the day with throws. Carroll tossed an 11.86-meter shot put toss good for fourth place. He threw a season-best 35.32-meter hammer throw and posted a season best in the discus with a 35.01-meter launch.
The Hawks have a week of preparation before the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships, hosted in Romeoville, Illinois, on May 1-3.
