INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Quincy University men's wrestling team competed at the 46th Annual Midwest Classic this past weekend in Indianapolis, joining one of the nation's premier NCAA Division II tournaments. The event featured 47 programs from across the country, and the Hawks finished 21st in the team standings with 43.5 points.
Quincy was led by
Sabian Russell, who delivered an impressive performance at 149 pounds by securing six wins and earning a seventh-place finish. His run included a fall, a tech fall, a sudden-victory decision, and a medical forfeit to seal his spot on the podium.
Quincy saw several strong individual efforts throughout the lineup. At 125 pounds,
Brian Farley went 3-2 with wins by major decision, technical fall, and fall.
Te'Andre Allen added a win at 133 pounds with a major decision, while
Dimitri Bao-Washington collected a forfeit victory at 141. Russell's standout 6-2 performance highlighted the middleweights at 149. At 157,
Isaiah Nichols went 3-2, earning a pin, a decision, and a medical forfeit.
Jackson Jones posted a pair of dominant technical falls at 165 pounds on his way to a 2-2 record, and
Mac Chambers recorded a decision victory at 174. In the upper weights,
Callan Ivy put together a strong 3-2 showing at 184 pounds with three decision wins, while
Judah Yates finished 2-2 at 197 behind a fall and a narrow 10-8 decision. At heavyweight,
Caleb Groff added a major decision victory to round out the Hawks' wrestlers.
Quincy will now break for the holidays before returning to action in the new year. The Hawks are set to host Saint Ambrose University on January 3rd for a dual inside Pepsi Arena.
