Hawks Earn Four Podium Finishes in Stacked 50-Team Missouri Valley Open

MARSHALL, Mo. - The Quincy University women's wrestling team turned in a strong showing at the highly competitive Missouri Valley Open on Friday and Saturday inside the Burns Athletic Center in Marshall, Missouri, finishing the weekend with four podium placements against a massive field of 50 participating schools. The Hawks saw several wrestlers make deep runs in their respective brackets, highlighted by a runner-up finish at 138 pounds and two additional top-six finishers.

Quincy's highest placement came from Julia Chambers, who put together an impressive 5-1 performance to take second place at 138 pounds. Chambers powered through the bracket with four falls, logging pins in 2:56, 1:53, 4:14, and 1:16, while also grinding out a tough 5-3 decision along the way to reach the championship bout. At the same weight, Madeline Barton added depth to the Hawks' success with a strong run of her own, placing sixth with a 6-3 record. Barton secured four falls in addition to a dominant 13-0 technical fall and an 8-4 decision to earn a spot on the podium.

At 110 pounds, Alexandra Tchekounova secured an eighth-place finish, going 4-3 across two days of action. Tchekounova delivered a pair of tech falls and two pins while advancing deep into the bracket. Also placing at 110 was Trinity Pendergrass, who battled her way to a sixth-place finish with a 3-3 record, highlighted by a lightning-quick 42-second fall and a 10-4 decision victory.

Several other Hawks picked up multiple wins in their brackets. Sereena Baca (117 lbs) posted a 4-2 record with three falls, including one in just 38 seconds, and a 13-2 technical fall. Abigail Mendoza (103 lbs) added a 3-2 outing featuring two tech falls and a tight 10-10 criteria win, while Lillian Baynes (160 lbs) and Madisynn Crawford (180 lbs) each contributed two wins to Quincy's overall performance, combining for three total pins and a decision victory.

Quincy also saw experience-building matches from Alexa Valdez (160 lbs), Isabella Winingear (207 lbs), Mackenzie Graves (103 lbs), Trinity White (180 lbs), Siobhan Rogers (145 lbs), and Valeria Rodriguez (145 lbs), rounding out a full roster effort in one of the deepest women's collegiate tournaments of the season.

The Hawks return home for the Quincy Tri-Dual on Friday evening as Aurora University and Elmhurst University come to town. Action inside Pepsi Arena begins at 5:00 PM.
