Quincy Swimming Sweeps Grinnell on the Road

GRINNELL, Iowa – Quincy University swimming turned in a dominant performance on Saturday, sweeping Grinnell in dual meet action. The Hawk women topped the Pioneers 158–103, while the men earned a commanding 185–75 win.

The Hawks controlled the meet from start to finish with strong swims across every discipline. Quincy opened with momentum in both medley relays, with the men's "A" relay winning by nearly four seconds and the women's "A" relay taking a comfortable victory. From there, Quincy piled up event wins through depth, often going 1–2 in key races to build separation.

Distance events set the tone, as Gergely Török (men's 1000 free) and Laiken Vorthmann (women's 1000 free) claimed early victories, while Wojciech Chalat and Cassie Rankin added strong supporting swims. Sprint freestyle was another Hawk highlight – Denislav Koykov led a sweep of the men's 50 free, and Megan Schill touched first in the women's 50 free.

On the women's side, Quincy's depth showed in the middle-distance freestyle, with Lise Puissant winning the 200 and 100 free, while Rankin, Chantal Tiesinga, and others added top-three finishes. The backstroke group was also outstanding, led by Olga Pucarevic (100 back) and Vorthmann (200 back). For the men, Juri Bauer and Brendan Worster went 1–2 in the 100 back, and Bauer returned to help anchor relays.

Breaststroke was a Hawk stronghold as well. Freshman Haniel Kudwoli continued his impressive start with wins in the 100 and 200 breast, while senior Faith Cummings swept the women's 100 and 200 breaststroke. In the butterfly events, Marcelo Rojas and Olga Pucarevic picked up key wins, and freshman Vanja Vrbanec scored a runner-up finish.

The Hawks capped the meet in style, taking both the men's and women's 400 free relays. The men edged Grinnell by just 0.11 seconds in a thriller, while the women cruised to nearly a seven-second margin.

Both Hawk squads will return to action on November 7–8 at the Drury Invitational, facing off against some of the top competition in the region.
