Biography

Personal: Marcelo Rojas is originally from Piura, Peru, and attended Deportiva Peruana. He is the son of Alexander Rojas and Cecilia Ariza, and has two siblings, Michelle and Mauricio Rojas. Marcelo maintained a high GPA throughout high school, balancing rigorous academic courses with his athletic commitments, and ultimately graduated with honors and distinction.

In the pool, Marcelo achieved national recognition as a competitive swimmer. He qualified for national-level competitions and earned national titles consecutively in the butterfly, breaststroke, and individual medley (IM). Notably, he represented Peru on the international stage, defending his national titles while continuing to be recognized for his academic excellence.

Before attending Quincy University, Marcelo competed at Iowa Lakes Community College during the 2022–2023 season and at the University of the Cumberlands from 2023–2025, both as a member of their swimming programs. In addition to his athletic pursuits, he has been actively involved in student leadership, serving on the Student Senate and as a KYCPA Student Ambassador.

In his free time, Marcelo enjoys watching sports events, reading about technology, and listening to music. He draws inspiration from elite swimmers such as Caeleb Dressel, Adam Peaty, Leon Marchand, and Michael Phelps. His favorite sports team is FC Barcelona.
