Pella, Iowa - The Quincy University track and field program opened up its 2025 campaign with a Friday afternoon meet (Jan. 17) at Central College.
Women's Results
Sofia Capasso made her Quincy debut in Pella, running the 60-meter dash in 9.04 seconds.
Ava Certa finished her 800-meter run in 2:40.71 before
Carlie Davis took care of the 3,000-meter run in 13:58.34. Bri Obermeier and
Sofia Coglianese each ran the mile with sub-seven times.
Men's Results
Jack Thompson was the highest Hawk score in the long jump with a 6.46-meter jump and a second place finish in the event.
Jerron Baker finished fifth in the group with a 6.13-meter leap. The duo then finished second and third in the triple jump with Baker taking the two-spot at 13.32 meters and Thompson just behind at 12.66 meters. Dominic Ricci rounded out the jump events with a 1.76-meter high jump.
Evan Carroll did well in the shot put with a long toss of 11.84 meters, earning himself a fourth-place finish.
Sam Koenig was the lone Hawk to qualify for the finals in the 60-meter dash and improved his time of 7.31 seconds to 7.26 in the finals.
Landon Sprous and Ricci both competed in the 60-meter hurdles for the Hawks, going fourth and fifth place, respectively. Sprous ran a 9.03-second time while Ricci finished at 9.23.
Freshmen
Vinny Olson and
Owen Weinfurtner were just seconds apart in the mile. Olson finished in 5:08.52 while Weinfurtner had a season best 5:13.35 in the event.
Koenig and Thompson excelled in the 200-meter dash later in the meet. Koenig had a 24.09-second time while Thompson was just behind him at 24.73 seconds.
Thomas Hess rounded out the meet with a second place finish in the 800-meter run with a 2:15.03 time.
The Hawks have a quick turnaround and will head back to Iowa next weekend, January 24-25th, for the Fighting Bee Invite at St. Ambrose University.
