WHITING, Ind. - Quincy wasn't able to get much of anything going in a 33-6 loss on the road at Calumet College of Saint Joseph on Saturday (Sep. 29) evening week three MSFL action.
The Hawks offense just couldn't find any kind of spark, picking up just four first downs throughout the entirety of the contest, scoring it's only points on an incredible 82-yard kickoff returned to the house for six by
Chance Newton in the closing minute of the first half.
CCSJ took a 19-6 advantage into the halftime break and continued to press the issue in the third quarter, finding the end zone on two more occasions as the Crimson Waves' quarterback, Nino Barbosa scored his third touchdown on the ground and first through the air in the final minute of the third quarter to lead it 33-6.
Neither side made it into the scoring column in the final 15 minutes of the game as Calumet College of Saint Joseph came away with the victory to move to 2-0 on the season and deal the Hawks their third loss of the campaign.
Nasir Carson led the Hawks receivers with 36 yard on four receptions while
CJ Jackson was the leading rusher for QU with 22 yards on the ground.
Joell Campos led the defensive effort with eight total tackles, a fumble return and half a tackle for loss.
Austin Moore picked off Barbosa in the second quarter along with adding a tackle while
Rollin Armes collected four tackles and forced a fumble.
Quincy is back in action next week, taking on the Cavaliers of Walsh University on Saturday (Oct. 5) at QU Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
