Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mi. - The Hawks were on the road for the first of three matches away from Quincy to face off with the Panthers of Davenport on Saturday (Apr. 6). It was three goals aside at the half until DU pulled away in the final 30 minutes, gaining a score in each period to defeat the Hawks by an 8-6 final score.
The Panthers opened the scoring at the 8:27 mark of the first period with a man-up score. QU answered just over a minute later with an unassisted goal off the stick of
Jayme Brain to knot the score at 1-1. Davenport notched the final goal of the first with a little over three minutes to play.
Quincy took the lead in the second on a pair of scores from
Christian Czarny. The first coming under 30 second into the period thanks to a man-up opportunity on a feed from
Mason Marano and the second roughly 10 minutes later to put the Hawks ahead 3-2. The Panthers found the back of the net with 14 seconds remaining to even the tally at 4-4 heading to the break.
Davenport scored the first goal of the second half a little over a minute into the third quarter followed up by about nine minutes of ceasefire before a fervent finish to the frame.
The Hawks equalized on another score from Brain, assisted by Czarny at the 4:28 mark followed by an answer 80 seconds later from DU to make it 5-4. Under a minute later,
Jackson Houston came through with a goal to even the tally once more before a last-second goal from the Panthers found Quincy trailing 6-5 heading to the fourth.
DU converted the first two goals of the final frame to build a three-goal advantage at 8-5.
Caidyn Prediger scored the final goal of the contest on a dish from
Jonah Pappas to round out a narrow 8-6 defeat.
