Hawks Dominate at Benedictine College

Atchison, Ks. - The QU men's wrestling team had a fantastic weekend in Kansas, going a perfect 4-0 at the Benedictine College hosted Loosbrock Duals a day before another impressive showing at the Service Salute tourney, also hosted by Benedictine.

Loosbrock Duals

The Hawks started off the year a perfect 4-0 in duals action with an undefeated run through the Loosbrock Duals on Friday (Nov. 8). QU defeated Cloud County Community College 43-4, Barton Community College 52-0, Colby Community College 51-0 and William Woods University 47-5, dropping points on only two occasions throughout all four matches in what was a dominant showing for the men's wrestling team.

Service Salute

18 placers, 11 podium finishes and four champions highlighted the Hawks stellar showing at the Service Salute tourney held on Saturday (Nov. 9).

Sabian Russel claimed the first, a 141 division title, never going the distance in a single match with three techs and a fall in the championship match. Hunter Vernon used a pair of tech falls to reach the 157 division championship before defeating his teammate, Easton Norris via 6-3 decision for the division crown.

Callan Ivy took home another first place finish in the 184 division, collecting a fall, major decision and decision victories before winning the championship match via forfeit. Logan Colbert rounded out the 1st-place finisher with a top finish in the 197 division, winning a match by decision and another by fall to reach the championship which he won by fall over his teammate, Maxim Ryner.

Other podium finishers included: Brian Farley (2nd 125), Lucas Clement (2nd 149), Easton Norris (2nd 157), Gabriel Orosco (2nd 165), Maxim Ryner (2nd 197), Kaden Rios (3rd 125), and Dalton Schell (3rd 174).

Other placers included: Damien Flores (4th 133), Carter Silva (4th 157), Jackson Jones (4th 165), Tigh Connor (4th 184), Isiah Hill (4th 285), James Soliz (5th 184) and Savion Essiet (6th 125).

Next Up

The Hawks aren't back in action for a couple of weeks, heading to Warrensburg, MO on Sunday November 24th for the Central Missouri hosted Kaufman-Brand Open set to begin at 9:00 AM.
