Emporia, KS - Quincy University sophomore
Jack Thompson capped off another historic season on the national stage Thursday afternoon at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship held at Francis G. Welch Stadium on the campus of Emporia State University.
Competing against 22 of the top long jumpers in Division II, Thompson finished 15th overall with a mark of 7.06 meters to earn Second Team All-America honors in the long jump.
The national honor marks Thompson's second All-America recognition of the academic year after earning Second Team All-America honors during the indoor season in the triple jump at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championship.
Thompson's sophomore campaign was one of the most accomplished seasons in program history, as he now holds Quincy University school records in both the long jump and triple jump during the indoor and outdoor seasons. Earlier this outdoor season, Thompson broke the school record in the long jump with a leap of 7.49 meters at the Culver-Stockton Wildcat Open, a mark that qualified him for the national championship meet.
Throughout the outdoor season, Thompson consistently ranked among the top jumpers in the region and nation, recording three first-place finishes in the long jump while continuing to elevate Quincy's presence on the national stage.
With two All-America honors and four school records already to his name, Thompson closes the 2026 season as one of the most decorated jumpers in Quincy University track and field history.
