WATERLOO, Iowa – The Quincy University women's golf team battled through difficult weather conditions to finish third out of 10 teams at the Upper Iowa Invitational held at Sunnyside Golf & Country Club.
Originally scheduled for April 3-4, the tournament was shortened to one round after weather canceled day one. Competing on the par-72, 5,833-yard course in cold and wet conditions, the Hawks posted a team score of 329 (+41).
Lily Vardaman led Quincy with a strong round of 79 (+7), tying for third overall in the 60-player field. Vardaman carded two birdies and seven pars during her round.
Laci Novosel followed with an 82 (+10), tying for 12th overall while totaling 10 pars.
Addi Eades and Kiley Torres each finished tied for 16th with rounds of 84 (+12). Eades recorded 10 pars, while Torres added two birdies and eight pars in her round.
Payton Miller rounded out the Quincy lineup with an 86 (+14), tying for 21st overall after totaling six pars.
The Hawks will be back in action on April 12-13 when they travel to St. Louis for the UMSL Spring Invitational at Norwood Hills Country Club.
