BOLINGBROOK, Ill. - The Quincy University women's golf team competed in its second tournament of the spring season at the Flyers' Spring Invitational held at Bolingbrook Golf Club. Due to weather delays, the tournament was shortened to 27 holes over two days. The Lady Hawks posted a team score of 326-172 - 498 to finish seventh out of 13 teams.
Lily Vardaman and
Laci Novosel paced Quincy, with both golfers finishing tied for 24th overall at 124 (+16). Vardaman opened with a steady 81, carding a 39 on the front nine and a 42 on the back before adding a 43 in round two to close out the tournament.
Novosel climbed the leaderboard in round two after opening with an 82. She highlighted her second day with a birdie on the 319-yard par-4 14th hole and shot a 42 in the final round to finish tied with Vardaman at 124 (+16), good for a share of 24th place.
Kiley Torres continued her strong spring play, opening with an 81 (+9) before adding a 44 in round two. Torres closed her tournament in style with a birdie on the 372-yard par-4 18th hole to finish with a total score of 125 (+18), tying for 29th.
Addi Eades rebounded nicely after a 44 on the front nine of round one, carding a 38 on the back to finish with an 82. She followed with a 44 in round two to post a tournament total of 126 (+18), placing tied for 34th.
Payton Miller rounded out the Quincy lineup, shooting a 92 in the opening round before improving with a 43 on day two. Miller finished with a total score of 135 (+27), tying for 50th.
The Hawks will be back in action on April 3-4 when they travel to Waterloo, Iowa to compete in the Upper Iowa Invitational at Sunnyside Golf & Country Club.
