SMYRNA, Tenn. - The Quincy University men's bowling team wrapped up a historic 2025-26 season over the weekend at the USBC Sectionals in Smyrna, Tennessee, narrowly missing a trip to nationals with a fifth-place finish in the Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) sectional qualifier.
The Hawks placed fifth out of 20 teams with a total pinfall of 12,853 across 64 baker games, finishing just 159 pins shy of fourth-place SCAD-Savannah for the final qualifying spot to nationals. The event format featured four 16-game blocks contested over two full days, with the top four teams advancing.
Quincy put itself in strong position throughout the weekend and remained in the hunt deep into the event. After day one, the Hawks sat in fourth place and held a 61-pin advantage over fifth. They continued to battle on Sunday and were still in qualifying position after 48 games, but a difficult final stretch coupled with a strong closing push from Purdue University bumped the Hawks just outside the top four.
Even with the tough finish, the weekend marked another major step forward for the program. Quincy averaged over 200 pins per game across all 64 baker games for the first time in program history and recorded its highest-ever finish at sectionals. The previous best finish for the Hawks was seventh place a season ago.
In the Intercollegiate Singles Championships (ISC), Quincy had four bowlers competing in a field of 172 participants.
Trevor Dodd led the way with a 53rd-place finish after totaling 1,197 pins over six games for a 199.5 average.
Zakery Grosvenor followed closely in 57th place with 1,195 pins and a 199.2 average, while
Cayden Thoms placed 61st with 1,188 pins for a 198.0 average.
Connor Meegan rounded out the Hawks' individual competitors in 94th place with 1,149 pins and a 191.5 average.
The sectional event brought the curtain down on a memorable season for Quincy men's bowling. In just the fifth season of the program, the Hawks posted the first tournament championship in program history and added six more top-five finishes during a breakthrough campaign. Though the season ended just short of a nationals berth, Quincy continued to raise the standard and delivered the most successful postseason finish in program history.
