QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy women's wrestling team dropped a hard-fought senior night dual to No. 23 Lindenwood University, 28-18, inside Pepsi Arena on Tuesday evening. QU opened the night in dominant fashion with back-to-back falls and controlled the early momentum, but the Lions answered in the middle and upper weights to pull away late and secure the dual victory.

Prior to the match, seniors Trinity Pendergrass and Abby Rhodes were honored in a pre-dual ceremony. Both student-athletes have been with the program since its inaugural 2022-23 season and competed inside Pepsi Arena for the final time in their collegiate careers.

The Hawks surged ahead early as Pendergrass set the tone with a fall at 2:09, followed by Alexandra Tchekounova pinning her opponent at 2:50. Sereena Baca added a 9-2 decision at 117 to give Quincy three straight wins.

After a forfeit at 124, Maddy Barton put the Hawks back on track with another fall at 2:10 in the 131-pound bout. Lindenwood, however, captured four of the next five matches, including two falls and a technical fall, to swing the team score in its favor.

Rhoades closed the night on a high note for the Hawks, earning an extra match victory with a fall in 1:31.

Quincy returns to the mat one final time before postseason competition, traveling to the Grand View Open in Des Moines on Saturday, February 9, at 9:00 AM.
