INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Quincy University women's indoor track and field team has been selected 12th out of 14 teams in the Great Lakes Valley Conference preseason coaches' poll, earning 45 points as the Hawks prepare for the upcoming 2026-27 indoor season.
The preseason poll is selected by the league's head coaches who are not permitted to vote for their own team, per GLVC bylaws.
Hawks to Build Off Last Season
Quincy enters the season looking to build on a productive 2025-26 campaign that featured school records, individual event success, and continued development across the roster.
The Hawks finished 11th at the GLVC Indoor Track and Field Championships last season, scoring 12 points while recording several notable performances against conference competition.
One of the biggest highlights from last season came from
Katie Park, who established herself as one of the Hawks' top distance runners.
Park won the mile at the Principia Relays in a school-record time of 5:10.68 before earning a third-place finish in the event at the GLVC Championships with a time of 5:06.66, breaking her own program record.
She also placed eighth in the 800-meter run at the conference meet, adding valuable points for Quincy.
In the field events,
Suraya Newman delivered a record-setting debut indoor season. Newman won the triple jump at the Principia Relays with a school-record mark of 11.21 meters and carried that momentum into the GLVC Championships, where she placed sixth in the triple jump and ninth in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 5.30 meters.
Her versatility in the jumps gives the Hawks an important contributor heading into the new season.
Quincy also saw strong performances from its sprint and distance groups.
Madison Roberts finished seventh in the 60-meter dash at the GLVC Championships after recording a personal-best time of 7.74 seconds in the preliminaries.
The Hawks' distance medley relay team of Park,
Lauren Hegele,
Emily Faletti, and
Alexis Fonseca set a school record with a time of 12:56.19 during the season, demonstrating the depth of the program's middle-distance and distance runners.
The Hawks will look to continue that progress with a roster that combines returning experience and developing talent.
Starting Strong
Park will headline the distance group after her record-breaking season, while Newman provides an established presence in the jumps.
Roberts is another athlete to watch in the sprints, and Hegele, Faletti, and Fonseca bring experience in the middle-distance and relay events.
The Hawks will be led by head coach Doug Savage, with Ryan Palm serving as an assistant coach. The coaching staff will look to build on the program's recent record-setting performances while helping student-athletes continue to develop across the track and field events.
With several returning contributors and a foundation of school-record performances to build upon, Quincy will aim to turn last season's progress into further success as the Hawks prepare for another competitive indoor campaign in the GLVC.
The 2026-27 indoor schedule will be released at a later date.
