CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Quincy University men's and women's track and field teams closed out the regular season at the Rittgers Invitational hosted by Coe College. While no team scores were recorded, the Hawks delivered a strong showing, highlighted by 20 total personal records, as they gear up for the postseason.
On the women's side,
Sofia Coglianese led the way with a first-place finish in the 800 meters, crossing in a personal-best time of 2:35.55.
Emily Faletti added a sixth-place finish in the 1500 meters with a PR of 5:12.35, while Lillian Fields recorded a personal-best 2:48.93 in the 800 meters to place seventh.
Ava Certa also competed in the 800 meters, finishing fourth in 2:45.88. In the 3000 meters,
Mia Robnett posted a personal-best time of 13:09.14 to finish eighth.
For the men,
Aneas Smith continued his strong season in the hurdles, placing third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.06.
Dominick Ricci followed in seventh at 15.74 and also turned in a standout performance in the high jump, finishing second with a clearance of 1.90 meters.
In the distance events,
Austin Haskins placed eighth in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:00.82, a new personal record.
Evan Sweeney led the way in the throwing events, placing fourth in the discus with a mark of 45.01 meters, seventh in the hammer throw at 50.85 meters, and eighth in the shot put with a toss of 14.32 meters.
Tate Kunzeman added a third-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 47.04 meters.
Quincy now turns its attention to the postseason, returning to action April 30 through May 2 at the GLVC Outdoor Championships in Bolivar, Missouri.
