Bolivar, Mo. – The Quincy University men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the 2026 outdoor season at the GLVC Outdoor Championships, hosted at Plaster Stadium in Bolivar, Missouri. Over the three-day event, the Hawks broke four school records and saw both programs improve their team finishes from a year ago. The men placed 10th with 29.5 points, while the women finished 11th with 13 points.
The weekend was highlighted by a historic performance from
Katie Park, who became the first women's track and field athlete in program history to win a GLVC event. Park dominated the 1500-meter final on Saturday, pulling away from the field to win by nearly three seconds while setting a new school record with a time of 4:34.70.
Day One – Thursday
Evan Sweeney opened the meet for the Hawks with a sixth-place finish in the men's hammer throw, recording a mark of 53.55 meters.
On the women's side,
Briana Obermaier delivered a strong performance in the 10,000 meters, setting a school record and personal best with a time of 42:10.12.
Day Two – Friday
Jack Thompson highlighted the field events with a sixth-place finish in the long jump at 7.02 meters.
In the hurdles,
Aneas Smith advanced to Saturday's finals in the 110-meter hurdles with a second-place finish in the semifinals, running 14.68.
Dominick Ricci also qualified for the finals, placing eighth with a personal-best time of 15.29.
Madison Roberts broke the school record in the women's 100 meters during the semifinals, clocking a time of 12.37.
Ricci also advanced to the finals in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing sixth in the semifinals with a time of 54.66.
In the women's steeplechase,
Alexis Fonseca set another school record with a personal-best time of 11:53.01.
Day Three – Saturday
The Hawks closed the meet with several strong finishes across both track and field events.
In the men's triple jump,
Jack Thompson placed third with a mark of 14.77 meters, earning All-Conference honors, while
Jerron Baker followed in fifth at 14.47 meters.
Dominick Ricci added a personal-best clearance of 1.95 meters in the high jump, tying for eighth place.
Suraya Newman recorded a sixth-place finish in the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.33 meters.
Sweeney added another scoring performance in the men's discus, placing sixth with a throw of 45.07 meters.
On the track, Smith finished third in the 110-meter hurdles final with a time of 14.99, while Ricci placed seventh in 15.60. Ricci also added a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles final with a time of 55.15.
Park's historic victory in the 1500-meter final served as the defining moment of the championship, capping off a record-breaking performance and a milestone achievement for the program.
Following a successful outdoor season that saw numerous athletes take the next step, Quincy will now await selections for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, where the Hawks' top performers will look to extend their season on the national stage.
