JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Quincy University track and field teams traveled to Illinois College on Saturday to compete in the Snowbird Open inside King Fieldhouse. While no team scores were kept, the Hawks turned in an impressive day that featured 30 personal records, two event victories, and one new school record.
The men's squad was led by
Evan Sweeney and
Dominick Ricci, who each claimed an event win while also placing among the top three in another event.
Ricci captured first place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.85 meters, then narrowly missed a second victory by finishing second in the 400-meter dash in a photo finish, coming up just .005 seconds short of first.
Sweeney delivered a strong showing in the throws, winning the shot put with a mark of 14.89 meters before adding a third-place finish in the weight throw at 16.10 meters.

On the women's side, the Hawks were highlighted by a record-breaking performance in the distance medley relay. The quartet of
Katie Park,
Lauren Hegele,
Emily Faletti, and
Alexis Fonseca placed second overall while setting a new school record with a time of 13:08.10.

Both the men's and women's teams return to action next weekend at the two-day Principia Relays, scheduled for January 30–31 at the Crafton Athletic Center.
