Box Score KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Quincy University men's lacrosse team dropped a GLVC matchup on Saturday afternoon (Apr. 6), falling 15-7 to Rockhurst University at Bourke Field.
Quincy kept the pace with RU in the opening quarter, scoring three times in the opening frame. Haakon Steen struck first at the 7:17 mark, followed quickly by Connor Nock just ten seconds later. Mason Luoma added another late in the period to keep the Hawks within a score after one at 4-3.
QU surged ahead in the second quarter with three unanswered goals. Nock added his second of the day midway through the quarter, while Luoma scored again and Caleb Hensley buried a goal with one second remaining before halftime to send the Hawks into the break with a 7-4 advantage.
The second half saw Rockhurst limit Quincy to just one goal — Luoma's third of the game coming at 10:21 in the third quarter. The home team added six more scores after halftime to secure the 15-7 final.
Luoma led Quincy with a hat trick, while Nock chipped in a pair of goals. Steen and Hensley each added one.
In goal, Austin Vetter turned away 15 shots for QU, facing 30 total shots on goal. Quincy forced 5 turnovers on the day and collected 21 ground balls.
