Hawks Speed Through Central Methodist Invite

Fayette, Mo. - The Quincy University track and field team competed in the Central Methodist Invite on Saturday (Mar. 29). The Hawks competed well among 17 teams and made some high marks in the competition. 

Women's Results
Sofia Berg handled the 100-meter dash for the Hawks, posting a 14.24-second run and debuted in the long jump. Katie Park ran a personal best 2:23.97 in the 800-meter run, placing 9th. Ava Certa also competed in the mid-distance event, posting a 2:49.11 time. 

Carlie Davis and Sofia Coglianese competed in the 1500-meter run, kicking off the long distance events. Davis completed a sub-six time at 5:53.84 while Coglianese was not too far behind at 6:01.65. Bri Obermaier was the lone Hawk in the 5000-meter run, posting a 21:53.29. 

Men's Results
The men's field events did well again on Saturday. Jack Thompson placed fifth in the triple jump at 13.95 meters and 12th in the long jump at 6.50 meters, leading the Hawks in both categories. Jerron Baker was just behind him in both events at 6.46 meters in the long jump and 13 meters even in the triple jump. Charlie Kallal rounded out the trio at 5.98 and 12.66 meters respectively. Dominick Ricci was the lone Hawk to compete in the high jump and hit 1.86 meters. 

Sam Koenig, Jayden Ruiz, and Thompson all competed in the 100-meter dash. Koenig led the pack at 11.03 seconds, followed by Thompson at 11.46. Ruiz rounded out the group with an 11.64 run in the 100-meter dash, but followed with a 23.51-second 200-meter dash later on in the day. 

Landon Sprous and Ricci took care of the hurdles events for the Hawks. Sprous landed a top-five finish in the 110 hurdles with a 15.02-second run with Ricci to follow at 16.24 seconds. Ricci led the Hawks in the long distance hurdles, finishing the 400-meter distance at 56.20, beating his record set last week. Sprous finished just a few seconds behind at 58.68. 

Vinny Olson ran a personal best in the 1500-meter run at 4:33.42. Jude Mintle and Owen Weinfurtner rounded up the Hawks distance running with the 5000-meter run. Mintle finished sixth at 18:48.84 while Weinfurtner was just seconds behind at 18:52.14.

The Hawks begin April at Illinois College for the True Blue Invite on Friday, April 4th.
