Quincy, Ill. - Quincy University played host in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Bowling Championship this weekend (Mar. 21-23). The Hawks faced top-seeded Maryville University and #5 Newman University on Friday, falling to both squads.Â
Quincy faced Maryville in the morning session and as a team bowled a 581 in match play.
Hayden Bennett led the Hawks in match play with a 181 score.
Hannah Herdklotz knocked over 139 pins in match play while Emma Wijnbergen, Madisynn Crawford and Siobhan Rogers bowled a 91, 86, and 84 respectively.Â
In Baker play, the Hawks fared better, posting a 640 over five Baker games. Rogers led the Hawks with 142 pins dropped, followed by Wijnbergen with 136. Bennett and Herdklotz had 126 pins and 122 pins dropped and Crawford rounded out the group with 114 pins. Maryville posted scores of 907 in each game, sweeping the Hawks.
In the second round, Quincy faced Newman University. The Hawks were led by Herdklotz in match play after she knocked down 153 pins. Bennett was not too far behind with a 144. Wijnbergen, Crawford and Rogers each finished out with 106, 95, and 87 pins dropped. Quincy was out-bowled 1031-585.
The Hawks headed into Baker Play where Crawford led the Hawks with 137 pints, followed closely by Wijnbergen with 130. Bennett and Herdklotz both scored 125s, and Rogers rounded out the group with 112. The Jets averaged nearly 200 pins per player, beating the Hawks in two rounds.Â
The Hawks conclude their 2024-2025 campaign and look to build upon this year's success.
