WICHITA, Kan. – The Quincy University women's bowling team turned in another strong performance this past weekend, finishing eighth out of 24 teams at the prestigious Mid-States Championship, hosted by Wichita State and Newman University.
The Hawks opened with a solid effort on Saturday, placing ninth after day one and sitting just a few pins shy of the top-eight cut. On Sunday, QU continued to bowl consistently, pushing their way into eighth place to secure a spot in bracket play.
In the quarterfinals, the Hawks faced top-seeded Sam Houston, who entered the event ranked eighth nationally. Quincy battled valiantly but ultimately fell 3-0 to the Bearkats. Still, the eighth-place finish in such a competitive Tier I field highlighted another strong step forward for the program.
"All in all it was an amazing weekend for the QU Hawks bowling program," head coach
Kyle Egan said. "I couldn't be any prouder of how these women have prepared and trained for moments like these."
The Hawks will be back in action on November 22-23, when they travel to Belleville, Illinois, for the National Collegiate Team Match Games.
