BETTENDORF, Iowa – The Quincy University women's bowling team turned in a strong showing at the Viking Classic this past weekend, finishing sixth in both total pinfall average and overall standings while posting a 5-4 record across the two-day event.
The Hawks opened the tournament by going 4-1 in traditional team play on Saturday, highlighted by an impressive 862-793 victory over 19th-ranked Valparaiso. Quincy also defeated Carthage (896-851), Lewis (932-872), and Edgewood (802-701), with their lone setback coming against Carroll (835-821).
On Sunday, Quincy added a marquee Baker match win over 23rd-ranked Central Missouri, 930-894, before falling to Augustana (828-763) and Aurora (885-827). The Hawks finished the weekend 2-0 against conference opponents.
Hannah Herdklotz led Quincy individually, placing seventh in a field of 64 bowlers with a 944 total and a 188.8 average across five games.
Fernanda Garcia (862, 172.4) and
Lillian Fields (861, 172.2) also finished inside the top 20, placing 17th and 18th respectively.
Hayden Bennett averaged 163.0 over four games, while
Mackinzie McPeak posted a strong 182.0 average in limited action.
Chloe Broughton and
Macie Johnson rounded out the Hawks' competitors.
Quincy will return to action February 20–22 when they travel to Lincoln, Nebraska, for the Big Red Invitational.
