Hawks Battle in Loaded Field at Lewis Crossover

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Quincy University men's and women's cross country teams competed on Saturday morning at the Lewis Crossover, hosted at the Lewis Cross Country Course. The meet featured a loaded field of over 300 racers in both the men's and women's races, bringing together some of the strongest teams and individual competitors in the country. The QU women ran their second 6,000-meter race of the season and placed 33rd out of 36 teams, while the men competed in their third 8,000-meter race of the season and placed 37th overall.

For the women, Katie Park once again led the Hawks with a strong run of 23:24.25, just four seconds off her own school record. Alexis Fonseca also delivered a career highlight, clocking 24:32.33 — a time that ranks as the third fastest in QU history for the 6K, improving on her previous best at QU by nearly 45 seconds. Emily Faletti continued her steady progression with a personal best of 25:28.67, ranking 10th all-time in the QU record book, while Bri Obermaier ran a season-best 27:26.87. Mia Robnett capped the lineup with a personal record of 31:26.59, trimming time from her first collegiate 6K.

On the men's side, Joe Warning paced the Hawks with a personal-best 28:53.71, which also ranks as the tenth fastest 8K performance in QU history. He was followed by Owen Weinfurtner (29:54.31) and Vinny Olson (29:58.68), who both recorded season-best marks. Austin Haskins (30:03.52) turned in a PR, while freshman John Damm also notched a personal best with a time of 30:39.66. Fellow freshmen Logan Sutton (32:08.68) and Logan Meyer (34:00.38) each posted career-best times, while Justin Kappner (31:00.65) and Jude Mintle (31:45.96, season best) rounded out the team's efforts.

Quincy will now turn its focus to the GLVC Cross Country Championship on October 25th, returning to the Lewis Cross Country Course in Romeoville for postseason competition.
