COLUMBUS. Ga. - The Hawks looked to even up the series after dropping game one of the three-game set on Thursday (Feb. 22) afternoon. QU collected 11 hits to lead the contest, but converted for only three runs while the Cougars put up 10 runs on 10 hits for the 10-3 victory over Quincy.
CSU scored in the first, second and third innings on a sac fly, triple and three errors to make 4-0 after three innings of play.
Quincy formulated a response in the sixth inning, scratching across a pair of runs to half the deficit.
Adam Lewis hit one back to the pitcher with the bases juiced prompting a throwing error by the catcher for a run scored by
David Broughton and a passed ball from him shortly after brought in
Brock Boynton.
Columbus State returned the favor, grabbing both runs back in the home half of the sixth.
Connor Simons drove in the final Quincy run of the contest in the eighth inning on a double with an error to score Broughton for a second time before the Cougars piled on their final four runs in the bottom half of the inning to conclude the scoring in the contest and give CSU the 10-3 victory.
