Biography

2025 (Redshirt Sophomore): In his second season with QU, Ruffner made 14 starts, where he had a 6.29 ERA and 1.81 WHIP across 58.2 innings. He had a 4-3 record and punched out 56 batters. He threw his first career complete game shutout in a win over Truman State (5/3/25), which earned him GLVC Pitcher of the Week.

2024 (Redshirt Freshman): In his first season with the Hawks, Ruffner made 10 appearances, nine of them being starts. Kade tossed 33.0 innings and had a 1-8 record with a 13.36 ERA. Ruffner made his collegiate debut against North Georgia (2/17/24) and earned his first career win against Illinois-Springfield (5/4/24).

Personal: Kade Stephen Ruffner, born in Joplin, Missouri, is a dedicated student-athlete majoring in Biology. He played baseball and basketball throughout high school, lettering for Coach Travis Queck at Bryant High School near Little Rock after beginning his high school career at Bentonville West High School in Northwest Arkansas. As a senior, he earned all-conference honors in baseball and was an all-A’s honor roll student. In basketball, he was the first freshman to start on the varsity team at BWHS, received all-conference recognition as a sophomore and junior, and earned honorable mention all-state honors as a junior. In 2018, he showcased his pitching talent by throwing a complete game in a Perfect Game championship event.

His family includes his parents, Katie and Scott Ruffner, and younger siblings Jace, Brooks, and Belle. His father, Scott, was also an athlete, running track at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Kansas.
