Box Score COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Hawks took the initiative early in the ballgame, tagging on a run in the top of the first in the series final game against Columbus State on Saturday (Feb. 24). Quincy led for the first four innings until a five-spot from CSU in the fifth ended the scoring in the game for a 5-1 defeat of the Hawks.
A pair of walks to lead off the game from
Dustin Dupont and
Joe Huffman followed by a pair of fly-outs brought
Brock Boynton to the plate for an RBI single down the left field line to drive in Dupont for the ballgames first run.
CSU scored every single run in the same half inning, crossing the plate on five occasions in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Kobe Essien started the game for QU, providing a short but effective start on the mound collecting six strikeouts over four inning surrendering two earned runs on a hit and a walk.
Roman Harrison was solid out of the pen for four innings picking up four punch-outs and spreading two hits and three walks while not allowing another Columbus State run for the remainder of the contest as the Hawks didn't either have any success in the run-scoring department moving forward from there either.

The Hawks will finally be off the road for some much needed home cooking next weekend as they open a four-game set with Davenport on Friday (Mar. 1). First pitch for the home-opener is slated for 3:00 PM from Historic QU Baseball Stadium.
