Box Score KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Hawks were on the road once again, this time in KC to take on Rockhurst for a non-conference showdown on Wednesday (Feb. 21). A seven-goal first quarter for RU put the Hawks in a tough spot they were unable to get out of in a 20-6 loss.
Rockhurst netted all seven of their first quarter goals consecutively spreading them about most of the first quarter. Quincy waited until the final 19 seconds of the first half before Chirstain Czarny scored on a feed from
Mason Marano.
Just 18 seconds later with only a single tick left on the clock
Austin Vetter sent home the Hawks second score of the contest.
In similar fashion to the first quarter, in the second, RU did all of the early scoring and Quincy cleaned up the second half of the period with four goals from Rockhurst to press the advantage to nine with roughly six and a half minutes remaining.
Czarny got it done for a second time on a feed from
Jayme Brain before
Caleb Hensley scored the Hawks fourth goal, the third to be scored with less than a minute remaining in a period to make it 11-4 at the half.
Colin Usher claimed the first goal of the second half about a minute into the action to pull Quincy within six before RU answered with fix goals of their own to close out the third quarter.
Braden Lowrance put another one on the board for the Hawks to open play in the fourth quarter but that rounded out the scoring effort for Quincy from there as Rockhurst netted four more goals to solidify the victory.
