Box Score ST. LOUIS, MO. - Fresh off a non-conference win over a new conference foe to begin the 2024 campaign, the Hawks played yet another conference foe for a non-conference matchup, taking on a tough test at Maryville. The Saints dealt QU its first loss of the season, building on a big first quarter to take the match 19-8.
MU scored the first five goals of the contest before
Blaine Lowrance netted one for Quincy off a feed from
Christian Czarny.
Following a run of three scores from Maryville,
Austin Vetter converted on the Hawks second goal on a pass from
Mason Marano, one of four assists he had on the day.
Jayme Brain netted both of his goals and all Quincy scores in the second period while the Saints tacked on three more to take a safe lead into the half.
Caidyn Prediger, Czarny and
Caleb Hensley were the Hawks representatives in the scoring column for the third period as MU tacked on four more scores as well.
Czarny scored another goal in the fourth quarter to close out the Hawks on the offensive side of things for the contest.
On the other side of the ball,
Connor Nock picked up a pair of caused turnovers along with tallies in that department for
Zackary Springborn, Ray Lingard and Jard Fournier. In addition,
Ryan Riggs added 15 saves between the pipes.

The Hawks are on the road once again next week, taking on Rockhurst in Kansas City on Wednesday evening (Feb. 21). The match is slated to begin at 6:00 PM.
