Hannibal, Mo. - The Quincy University cross country teams traveled over the Mississippi River to the Trojan Invitational hosted by Hannibal-LaGrange University on Saturday morning (Oct. 12). The ladies got second place as a team, led by sophomore
Katie Park who finished first overall. The men had back-to-back-to-back-to-back finishes with
Jude Mintle leading the group.
Park came out of the woods at Hannibal-LaGrange with a quarter-mile lead over the next runner and ran a personal best 21:26.9, sitting seventh in program records. Briana Obermaier and
Ava Certa finished back-to-back with times of 23:35.2 and 23:40.3 respectively.
Carlie Davis and
Sofia Coglianese rounded out the Hawks group at 12th and 14th place. Davis ran a 26:31.3 5K and Coglianese followed with a 26:55.7.
For the men's 8K,
Jude Mintle was the first Hawk over the finish line with a 31:00.2 time.
Thomas Hess finished just behind him at 31:20.9, good for 6th place. Vincent Olson came across next with a 31:44.7 and
Owen Weinfurtner rounded out the Hawks at 32:30.7.
The Hawks look forwared to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship, hosted by the University of Illinois Springfield on October 26th. The women will run a 6K while the men will have another chance at the 8K.
