Springfield, Mo. - The Quincy University swimming program competed at the Drury Invitational this weekend (Nov. 3-4). The Hawks faced multiple national champions this past weekend and found themselves breaking some records and bringing home a few individual champions. The men's team placed fifth place out of six teams and the women's team placed sixth of six.

Women's Meet
Freshman Ariaa Sheth had a personal best 500 yard freestyle race in Springfield, clocking in at 5:31.12. Sheth has been a mainstay for the Hawks in distance events, placing fifth in the 1000 free with an 11:12.77, just in front of Chantal Tiesinga who clocked in less than a second later with her best time (11:13.14). The Hawks had eight relay groups place top-eight in five relays. 

Men's Meet
The Hawks were stellar in the Springfield, Missouri waters, with Wyatt Walsh winning two races and the 800 free relay (Wyatt Walsh, Jeronimo Martinez Barragan, Nolan May, and Keaton Weaver) broke the school record at 7:22.44. Wyatt Walsh took the title for the 500 freestyle at 4:35.60, beating national contender Colby Hughes by two seconds. Walsh won another race in Panther territory this weekend, finishing the 400 IM at 4:06.99. 

Coach Christiansen's Thoughts
"We made huge strides this meet from where we've been this fall. This was a great quick meet where we could learn to swim while tied against top GLVC competition. We have high hopes to push it even further as we rest for House of Champions at IUPUI next week!"
