Walsh Earns Weekly Conference Honor After Record-Setting Performance

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has announced that Quincy senior Wyatt Walsh has been named the GLVC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week following a standout showing in the Hawks' dual victory over William Jewell College.

The native of the United Kingdom powered Quincy to a 120-84 conference win, capturing first place in both of his individual events while also serving as a key contributor on a victorious relay squad.

Walsh's winning performances included:
  • 400 Free: 3:59.87 (1st)
  • 200 IM: 2:03.14 (1st, pool record at Kresge Pool)
  • 400 Free Relay Split: 50.32 (1st)
His 200 IM mark established a new pool record and highlighted one of the most dominant swims of the meet.

This honor marks the second GLVC Athlete of the Week award of Walsh's career, previously earning recognition during the 2023-24 season. He becomes just the third Hawk to receive the accolade, joining past honoree Borna Kisasondi (2022).

Walsh's efforts also gained national attention, as he was selected Division II Swimmer of the Week by SwimCloud.

Walsh and the Hawks now shift their focus to postseason competition as they travel to Evansville, Indiana, for the GLVC Championships, a five-day meet beginning Tuesday, February 10, at the Deaconess Aquatic Center.
