LEMONT, Ill. - The Quincy University women's golf team was back in action on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 2-3) at the Flyer Intercollegiate, hosted by Lewis University on the par 72 Ravines Course of Cog Hill Golf & Country Club.
Natalie Dearwester turned in the Hawks best performance of the season, leading QU to a sixth place finish with the first top 10 individual placement for the team this season at 160 (+16) for T9. The Hawks ended with an ominous final score of 666 (328-338) total strokes after 36 holes.
An 81 (+9) on day one and a 79 (+7), the low round of the tournament for Quincy on day two put Dearwester in the top spot for the Hawks after 36 holes. Addi Eades, the teams second finisher six shots behind Dearwester at 166 (+22), carded the low round for QU on day one, firing an 80 (+8). Eades followed it up with an 86 (+14) on day two to finish in tie for 19th.
Karlie Schnepp finished just a single stroke behind Eades at 167 (+23) on an 82 (+10) in round one and an 85 (+13) in round two for a T22 finish. Last tournaments top finisher,
Lily Vardaman, finished in a tie for 33rd position using an 85 (+13) and an 88 (+16) to finish with a 173 total score.
Laci Novosel rounded out the Hawks in competition with back-to-back 96's for a 48th place finish.
The squad is off for the remainder of this week and the next, before jumping into double trouble at Spring Lake Country Club on October 15-16, for JV action in the Wildcat Classic, hosted by Culver Stockton along with October 16-17 in Caseyville, IL for the Bearcat Dual Gender hosted by Mckendree University.
